- Embassy of Japan
255 Sussex drive
The National Capital Commission encouraged an "embassy row" of the more influential and important foreign powers along Sussex Drive, beginning with the American Embassy and ending near the Rideau Hall. The Japanese Embassy was one of the first built here. The three-storey brick building clusters fifty rooms around a skylit open space and integrates sophisticated security systems into its design. A large assembly hall is attached by a lower exhibition wing, and a traditional Japanese garden planted with bamboo forms part of the landscaping.
